Hey brain trust! Been a while, over a year for sure… happy to be back.. just pulled out of a horrible homeless stint and are finally on our feet enough to add chooks back to the mix now that we’ve got the pup n quail n garden sorted. I picked up a mixed flock the other night and I didn’t notice this Wyandottes eyes til the next morning. The skin around it looks inflamed like a Muscovy ducks almost. Any idea? Also it could be just a Wyandotte cross and that’s just how she looks. Thanks for your time, everyone and so happy to be back!!

The eye looks a bit crusty and the sinus area appears swollen. Do you see any bubbles in the eye? It could be signs of a respiratory disease with sinus infection. Tylosin powder or Tylan injectable given orally might be helpful, if it is MG.

Didn’t notice any bubbles and she doesn’t seem very lethargic or troubled but I’ll double check her eyes when home. If it is a respiratory disease n sinus infection.. would these be contagious to the flock?
