I went to feed chickens today and noticed that 2 of my black giants have REALLY SWOLLEN eyes. They are about 2 months old and have been fine since we got them when they were a day old. There is a white puss that I can push out of them!! And the other one has real watery eyes. I also noticed that one of them has the right eye swollen completley shut and I lifted the eye lid and can't even see the eye ball , but the left eye don't look that bad. Is it contagious, because I dont want to lose the whole 105 bird flock should I cull the bad ones? Any suggestions would be GREAT!

I cant help but im having a similar problem with 2 of my younger birds. One has a droopy eyelid and you can see yellow. Both have a slightly swollen eye and both hav bubbles in I guess the front corner of their eyes. Oh and its only one eye on each bird. Maybe its an eye infection or an allergy???

Someone please help us.

People are telling me to get all kinds of meds and test done, but the weird thing is that the 2 birds were in completely different enclosures and no other birds have those symptoms in either coop

Hi, Chicken Little

Unfortunetly it can spread!!! We went through this problem in June. We had our Poultry Micro Bioligist come out and she told us to treat it with Tylan Soluble Powder & Gallimycin

(Erythromycin) and it worked. So you want to start treating them right away because it can cause a high mortality rate if the chickens aint treated. We put a table spoon of each per gallon of water and treat the birds for 5 Days.
