This is one of my 2 month-old F1 Olive Egger chicks. None of the others have this head feather style. I tried to get pics where you could see it...

I love it, but I'm a little curious on where this feather style came from?

Dad is a FBCM and Mom is an Easter Egger of questionable lineage (ah, hatcheries).

Any idea where this pattern came from would be super appreciated! Thanks BYCers!!

Oh, and if you feel compelled to tell me roo/hen, that would be super, too :)

The ear tufts come from the EE mom.

Oh I know that :) Thanks! I'm talking about the feathers wrapping around the back of the head/neck... It's not the tufts, it's feathers from the back of the head/neck that go around to point to the other side... None of my others have that, and I totally love it, so I'd like to know what I need to do to get more like it :)

I see what you are saying now, I missed them in the second shot. I'd still blame it on the EE, Marans don't, or at least shouldn't, have that kind of feathering. I've never hatched one that had those.

That's something that I've seen mainly in breeds with some Oriental fowl in their ancestry. Seen it in Asils, Cornish, Cubalayas, Orloffs, etc.

Thanks! It's just strange because none of my EEs have it, so it's some sort of throwback to their unknown ancestry, I figure. I appreciate the input!
