So we got 12 “fertilized” eggs, but now it may seem that they were never fertilized from the beginning and farmer just ripped us off. The incubator has these eggs inside with 6 more days to go, hatching should be this Saturday 2/5. What do you guys think from these eggs? It is my first time doing this but they look like nothing like online. I’m so sad.

Nothing, they would be almost fully dark with a large air cell. If you got them locally did you see any roos? Otherwise you got ripped off, at least one should have been fertile.

We put 6 under our broody and 6 in an incubator. We wanted to see which would have a better hatch rate. But I guess at this point with only 6 days to go we’re at 0/12.

We did get them locally, about an hour away. They do have roosters. They sell chicks, edible eggs and fertilized eggs along with chicken food and such. It’s also a rooster sanctuary.

It was our only quick option of getting fertilized eggs since people on Facebook wanted to charge an arm and a leg.

Did they have a coop without roosters that the eggs might have gotten mixed up with?

We have a miracle!!!!! Some how we ended up with 1 little chick! We ended up discarding the 6 eggs within the incubator and the 6 that were under the broody hen we left (figured I let her sit it out till 21 days and then we would pick up 1-2 day old chicks locally for her and swap it for the eggs at night on day 21). We ended up going to Murdoch’s today to pick up chicks but they ran out of chicks by the time we got there. When we got home, I was locking the chickens up when I noticed broody mama with a chick. I’m hoping maybe for 1 more to hatch by tomorrow.

Guess miracles do still happen. 😉
