Hi!
I have raised chicks a few times now but I have one chick that I am concerned about. It hatched 5 days ago and it is very petite. Very fiesty but each day is slowing down more. I have never seen it eat or drink even when shown. I cannot feel a crop. The chick just likes to constantly burrow under other chicks.
It has heat on one side of brooder and then the side to cool off. No signs of pasty butt. No signs of Wry neck. Any ideas? It is my daughter's favorite chick. She named it Milk. Here is a picture at a day old.

Aww! It's so cute. I'd separate it into a separate brooder, with one other small chick that's eating well. Then you can monitor it better and it won't get trampled, but it'll also have a friend. Make sure the temp under the lamp is hot enough, about 85-90 degrees, and that there's a cool end away from the lamp too. I would get some poultry cell, and put that in it's water. It's great to give a little boost. Have you tried giving it some boiled or scrambled egg yolk?

Thank you! I have not tried egg yolk. I will do that tonight!

I hope it helps! If not, you could try some other fun treats to try and get it eating. Most birds can not resist small live mealworms, haha.

Tha k you for your help! I isolated Milk with it's buddy Gummibear (my kid names them). I got it to take a few tiny bites of scrambled egg and a few sips of water with nutridrench. Hopefully it starts to improve! If that doesn't work I'll go worm shopping tomorrow!
