What is a fair price for hatching eggs ? And what about chicks?

My rooster is a speckled Sussex. I have a SS hen, so those I can sell for more. I was thinking live chicks: $1.00 each for mix breeds, for the speckled Sussex $2.00.

For multiple birds
Mixed breeds: 12/$9 6/ $5

Speckled Sussex.

12/$15 6/$10

Does that sound fair? And what about fertilized eggs?

I'd personally be willing to pay that!

I think those prices sound fair especially since they will ultimately become chickens that would be worth around $15 an adult bird.

I find it hard to give away chicks sometimes, unless I can sex them, then I get $8 - 10 for day old pullets. Really, I'm having to turn people away now, even at that price. So, apart from a few for special orders or personal projects, I will only hatch sex-links or auto-sexing breeds from now on.

Your prices seem fair, but it's really about what your market will bear. If you hatch enough and are willing to ship them, you might get more because you can find a bigger market, otherwise, you will likely saturate the local market for straight run mixed breeds and SS after 1 or 2 hatches.
