I noticed Randall-Burkey sells fake dark brown eggs - does that mean that my BCM pullets should use a dark brown egg to show them where to lay, or will the white fake eggs work just as well????

White eggs work just as well. I use cheap golfballs that I got in a 12 pack at walmart. Been working just fine for 3+ years now.

yep, I agree with Gritstar, white will do. It's the shape that attracts the hen's eye, not the color. Maybe the dark eggs are for crafts too?

I only have 1 BCM pullet and she has only been laying for a few weeks but she has been using the nest boxes just fine without any dark eggs in there. I keep golf balls in them and of course the other birds eggs which are all lighter.

I use golf balls too. Every once in a while the hens get sick of looking at them I guess. I'll find them all kicked out of the nest boxes. When that happens I just gather them up and put them back where they'll stay until the hens decide they don't want them in there again.

I went for a walk along the golf course and picked up lost golf balls I have yellow brown white green and the hens lay in the what ever nest box they like.
