Fake grass

Hello we have 7 chickens and 2 ducks the area where their water is is so nasty I'm wondering if anyone has tried fake grass? Currently there is gravel and rock but the poop yuck you can't spray it or rake it so it's always nasty was thinking of using fake grass for he area where waster is???

Welcome! Ducks will make a huge mess, and are often housed separately from chickens. Would that help? Chickens do badly in wet conditions too.
For chickens, deep litter is best; shavings, grass clippings, dried leaves, weeds, wood chips, all together make a nice run floor. This won't be so good around the mud hole created by ducks!
Ask about them on the duck thread, maybe more help there too.

They are a year old now lol was just curious even if was just the chickens would still be doing the same thing yes ducks are messy yes chickens like it st so not what I was asking but tx anyway

I can assure you the chickens would like a dry run much better. It would also help with the smell. Wet chicken poop if foul. I wouldnt do the fake grass. The chickens would probably eat it and that wouldnt be good for them. I would suggest either separating them or hanging the water so it's off of the ground.

I've seen people using fake grass surrounding water features before. I wouldn't go far out but in theory it should control a bit of muddy banks, erosion, debris, etc

I know people have used the fake grass in chicken nestboxes.

Haven't used it myself, but it should be worth a try.

Sounds like you need to fix a drainage issue.
Cleaning fake grass won't be any easier than the rocks.
Post some pics of the area.
