When my garden is finished producing this fall, I am planning on having my chickens (and goats) free range in it. Are there any vegetable plants that are dangerous for them? I grow corn, potatoes, melons, watermelons, peppers, cucumbers, various herbs, peanuts (we tried just for fun!), tomatoes, green beans, celery, strawberries (this area is fenced separately - I'm going to try and keep them out), and broccoli. Can I safely assume that they will instinctively not eat anything that is harmful?

You might want to check the list of good food for them to eat that's located at the beginning of the web site. I don't think the potatoes are a good thing. But I would say you shouldn't have any problems with the rest. Just make sure that you didn't use any kind of pesticide on them.

I know about the vegetables themselves (the list of chicken treats here is great). I guess my question is actually about the plants that the vegetables grew on.

there is certainly nothing in the garden here that they have not attcked wth joy. No bad effects so far.
