I was surprised with 10-12 newly hatched chicks 2 weeks ago. 2 sisters were on eggs in different areas and when the chicks hatched, they joined forces and have 1 big family. 1 mom stays behind while the other 1 goes out with most the chicks. But the chicks also have 'aunts' and grandparents that help with all the chicks. I love watching the interaction between all the chickens and the chicks. They all keep careful watch over them.
