I absolutely love the "Scratch and Peck" blog. The stories are wonderful and the illustrations are amazing. The author, Lauren Scheuer, is so talented and I only wish she had time to post more frequently. If you haven't seen her blog, be sure to at least scan it and check out her art work. One of my favorite drawings shows how Lauren imagines one of her girls, Lucy, sitting on an egg which explodes. I laugh just thinking of it!!

Lauren's story of Lucy, the "Special Needs" chicken and the lessons she taught are another of my favorites. Lauren combines her wonderful drawings with photographs which capture the unique personalities of her flock to present funny and touching stories. You would not have to be a "chicken person" to love her work! Spread the word; Lauren's blog deserves a very wide audience.
