I posted a while back about my hen that had seemingly split open on her hindquarter. She's still plucky and very much in the world of the living, I'm happy to report. But I have a new problem: The hard coating soaked off and I've been cleaning away any black/ green dead skin and the wound is actually healing (nice, pink closed skin now around the edges!). She has a few deposits of what looks like yellow gristle in the exposed middle section- is this fat or the hard chicken pus I've read so much about?
I don't want to scrape away anything that's supposed to be there.
I will post pictures whenever I have helping hands around, but I wanted to post a.s.a.p. in case anyone had a simple "fat vs. pus" link or picture. Thanks!
