Has anyone had females that started with this coloring?? 2 weeks old
400

never had faverroles but that looks like some mighty dark feathers and the males have black feathers.

Any shoulder or chest feathers yet? Those are usually more reliable in verifying sex.

Not yet. She's 3.5 weeks and still has no tail feathers. Wing feathers still coming in slowly but still black. I noticed today that her leg feathers are starting to look black and there's a dot on her little tail nub that is also black. Waiting game stinks!

I'd say too because of the dark feathers and if you have others that are the same age and breed and they're feathering quicker w/ lighter feathers than that could be a male. If it was a black faverolle I would think black faverolles would start out black?

Some from the same batch at a friends house-wings are also darker but legs are yellow on hers.

Black leg feathers mean cockerel.

For those who metioned black Faverolles, those chicks look like penguins. They are very rare. I can think of only 3 breeders with LF blacks. There are a few more breeders with the bantam blacks.
