Favorite breed? (Relatively Quiet and Chill)

My Dark Brahma is super easy to handle and is pretty quiet. I can't really tell how loud she will be later, as she is only 6wks old right now. My sweetest hen is my Cuckoo Maran pullet (6wks). She will jump on my lap at any chance she gets. She is even sweeter than my Buff Orpington adult hen (she is super sweet too, though).

I have a speckled Sussex I love dearly. So know I really need a couple of light Sussex. Where did you get yours? If you don't mind me asking.

My overall favorite breed is RIR and here's why. They are friendly and smart. Great egg producers. An ok breed as a meat bird if necessary. Resistant to disease and mites. I never knew I had a mite problem until I introduced a different breed, Red Star. After a year or so of getting and raising those baby chicks, and then a hard winter in MN, I noticed the Red Star chickens had funny looking feathers. Broken, and very rough-looking. After researching the issue, I realized I had mites and treated the issue with Diatomaceous earth powder and all was well. However, my RIR chickens had been unaffected and still looked beautiful. The RIR are a 'true blue', dependable breed and I can choose from the Rose combed or regular.

But my second choice, strictly because of their all-out cuddliness and SUPER SWEET, gentle vibes are 1 Cochins and 2 Buff Orpingtons.

My quietest bird is my lakeside egger Chocolate Mint. However one of my other lakeside eggers, Basil is one of my loudest. All my birds are friendly (with Vanilla being a bit more standoffish but still friendly) but half of them are quite loud

My friendliest bird is one of my easter eggers, Ginkgo, she's usually one of the first to greet me. Lavender another one of my lakeside eggers is basically the flock mom, when my buff orpington Juniper was about to lay her first egg, she and Vanilla were chanting the egg song for her, when Juniper couldn't figure out how to get into the coop (Juniper is very sweet, but she's not the brightest) she came out to guide her in. On more than a few occasion I've gone out to find either one of them with their head tucked under her or she has one or both of her wings covering the birds next to her. She will also hop on my lap to see what I'm doing when I sit with them


As opposed to others, Juniper is one of my best, if not my best layer but everyone in the flock are good layers
