Favorite egg laying chicken

Hey everyone,
I wanted to know the preferred which chicken breed in egg terms is your favorite.
I also wanted to know which colored eggs you preferred to.

I like Rhode Island Reds with their brown eggs

I like an Ameraucana crossed with a Rhode Island Red. Big green eggs with high rate of lay.

I'll have to try that. I have both of those... which is the male and which is the female?

I don't think it matters one way or the other. You could always try both combinations to see which gives the most desirable results.

Male Ameraucana and female RIR. Other way around would probably work too but I have read that the male contributes more when it comes to the blue egg gene.

this isn't true.
The chick's get one gene from mom and one from dad. If one parent has a homozygous blue egg gene (two copies) then all of the offspring will have one blue and one brown, resulting in green eggs.

I have read that laying ability is linked to the male side of the family, but I was recently told that depends on the lines.
