favorite nesting box

anyone else have a favorite nesting box? we have a flock of 9 laying hens right now with 8 nesting boxes to choose from. came out to hang out with them this morning and saw our barred cochin harass our black sex link out of the nesting box before climbing in herself, as well as our salmon favarolle right behind her waiting for the nesting box too. i don’t get it- 8 nesting boxes, 5 in one coop and 3 in another. why don’t they just go in the other ones? we have fake eggs in the others to entice them but it’s just odd for them to want an already occupied box. i’ve seen them pile on another in a box just because they want that specific one.

I had five hens all piled into the same nest box this morning.... chickens can be so funny sometimes.

Put one fake egg in each nest, will help 'spread the love'.
