There will be an ABA & APA santioned poultry show in Lagrange Texas on September 5th At the Fayette County Fairgrounds. The judge will be Steve Jones and the entry deadline is August 27th.

Contact Danny Hughes at 979-758-3471
or at PO Box 251
Garwood Tx 77442

There will also be a Backyard show, these must be cooped in on Thursday the 3rd and will also need to have the current P/T test report forms.

Just wanted to remind everyone of this show and that the entry dedine is only 3 weeks away. It is one of but a handfull of country fairs in Texas that still have an exhibition poultry show. It is also one of the few shows in the south Texas area.

Besides I figure the weather will be cooled off by then so bring your coats and rain gear!!

bob, are you showing?

i talked to danny and he said since i'm outside the county, i could bring them as late as saturday morning. i don't know about the backyard show though.

i plan on bringing 3 RIR pullets the OEG hen i bought from you hatched for me back in january. i'd like to see what everyone thinks of them. they don't quite have the brick look but they're nice looking pullets none the less. i also have a cochin cockeral i plan on bringing. he'll be 7 months at the show. he's a little young but i just want to show him off. i sold everything else i hatched except him. he was quite a surprise coming from my hatches. dan did give me a hen last year. but she's not very big. i'm thinking he came from her though and luckily got her type. i was hoping to bring some marans but they are such slow growers. hopefully, they'll be ready by the january show.

other than that, i'll probably bring a serama or two! LOL

One last reminder of this show- the deadline is tomorrow for entries but even if you don't show you can come and look. I don't expect there to be a large amount of entries but there should be around 300-400. It is still very early for a show here in Texas, I just hope they have some fans going.
I believe this is the first year that the Fayette Co. Fair is a sanctioned show. I also believe this will be the first time that Steve Jones will be judging when he is the only judge.

Michele- sorry I didn't see your post earlier. Yes we are showing, sent our entry in today. I can't hardly pass a show up when it is less than an hour from the house. We entered 24 birds but most have at least one small condition issue. The heat and drought is killing us.

it was great seeing everyone! Buster had a great time at the fair. we got to stay a little while after the show since the rides didn't start till 6pm.

Buster won a couple of ribbons and trophies which made his day. poor guy woke up at 5.30am so we could make it to the show and then had to wait till 6pm to get on the rides. LOL

there weren't very many people in the backyard competition. i hope more people bring their chickens to these shows.
