A few people who have bought these eggs are hatching out cocoa brown chicks with BCM markings and feathered shanks. I actually got one myself. Very cute chicks.
I do this cross for dual purpose birds that should do well in the heat and be great layers. Game hens are also very broody. They also seem to start laying at a younger age, so hopefully the pullets from this mix will also. Games are great free rangers. It's gotten to where I have to supply bugs since they've been taking good care of clearing them from my yard.
This is a good way to get some good layers and stock your freezer. I donated some of these chicks to a Hungry Families organization.
I've heard that Marans are very tasty, but just can't bring myself to process one. LOL
