Ok I know feather footing supposed to be dominant right?

So how many generations would it take from breeding a feather footed bird to a clean legged bird and then keep breeding back to the clean legged bird, to start getting more clean legged birds? And when I get them, will they breed true for clean legs.

Also If I crossed a feather legged bird with a clean legged bird and then crossed their feather legged F1 offspring together, would any of the F2s have clean legs ?

Thanks

You beta me to it. I got the blue wyandotte bantams today and sepperated the birds into 2 groups so were gonna find out what happens. Wish I could find some mottled java bantams it would make this easier! my buddy actually has one bantam mottled hen with beautiful yellow legs I'm trying to talk him out of. She is more of a mutt but might help me get where I want to be sooner. I'll be looking for more!!

LOL I just asked you about this project in your WTB thread for you buddy. So are these new Wyandottes or the ones that you were saying have gold in the hackles ? Either way, I would still really like a few F1 eggs if you'll sell some. I saw someones pic today of a bantam Cochin X Wyandotte hen. We'll see if this tread can answere both of our questions, but personally I think that by the time you breed the mottling and the rose comb in, you should have the feathered leggs bred out. hopefully.

Well the cockerel has a little goldish tint in his hackles but the pullets are gorgeous. I'm gonna give it a couple weeks before I save eggs from them then check the fertility. I've got eggs from some blue black and splash bantam wyandottes coming but it will be fall before I get to use those. Got another contact that said to get back with him in April as he may have eggs for me from his blacks then and they are the real deal!!
