I have 2 RIR that are loosing their tail feathers. I have not seen any signs that they are being bullied, also I only have hens. Additionally I rarely find feathers in their coop and run. My 4 RIR are almost a year old. The other 6 hens just turned a year and are Silkie/RIR crosses.

If it were parasites wouldn't I see this in the other 8 hens that I have?

Look for advice......Thanks

Can you post some photos of the whole bird too?

Loss like that I would say is due to others plucking them unless you notice these 2 plucking at themselves continuously.

How much space do you have in your coop/run? Often picking is done while roosting, so you may want to check them out then too.

We have 10 hens the run is 100 sq ft, the coop is 80 sq ft with 2 8ft roosts.

I have this same problem. I am trying to put on blu-kote to see if they will stop picking which tastes bad and is not red. I am also giving them lots of protein like scrambled eggs and mealworms because they eat feathers when they need protein.
