Feather loss

Has anybody heard of giving heart or liver to your chickens for protein? My chickens are losing their feathers!!

Are your chickens molting or are the feathers being picked out of a particular spot? Are all of them, however many, losing feathers? How old are they? Chickens will typically molt during the first winter after they are a year old.
