Feather Picking?

I have a silkie I've just removed from the flock because he's been feather picking. How long should I seperate him?

I have read that if he is out about a week, he will be at the bottom of the pecking order when he is returned, which should help. I wouldn't put him back til I felt I'd corrected the cause of the problem. There are some good threads here on the subject. Scroll down the page a ways, to pecking and feather pulling:
