Does anyone have a list of breeds or crosses that are feather sexable? I bred my buff roo to my red sex-link hens and got short feathered chicks and long feathered chicks. Could the long feathered chicks be pullets and the short roos?

If they are even rows then it should be a rooster if they are stagard it should be a girl/pullet. We have done ours this way and so far we have been very very close. There is a link http://animalsciences.missouri.edu/reprod/ReproTech/Feathersex/sld006.htm and another http://www.ithaca.edu/staff/jhenderson/chooks/sexingchicks.html Hope this helps and the links work

From what I understand, this only works if one parent is slow feathering and one is fast feathering...... therefore it's NOT a breed thing, but depends on the particular birds used for breeding. And I have heard said that the hatcheries will switch it up from time to time. But I could be wrong
