Feather trimming

Hi new to raising chickens. I have 7 15 week old hens 2 light brahmas, 1EE , 1cream leg bar, 1 CQ, 1 Silkie, and lastly 1 BR. They r in a run that is 24Lx 10W x 4H (i know its not high) uncovered run all day. They have recently began flying over the top. Is it ok to trim there feathers on one wing to help prevent them from flying over? I have done this with parakeets before.

Yes, its fine to trim one wing. This will (in theory) prevent them from flying very well. However, in my experience, it doesn't always work, as chickens can jump pretty well even without full feathering on a wing.

yes - we had to do it to one of ours because she kept getting out and she has done fine
