I've been finding what seems like a lot of feathers in the run lately. No one seems to have any bare patches. The girls are just a little over 3 months old - I didn't expect them to moult so soon - is that normal? The weather has been typically unpredictable lately - some days in the 80's followed by some in the 60's . . . stupid global warming. Is the onset of warmer weather triggering a moult or is someone picking on someone?

At that age they do shed what seems like a lot of feathers. Wait til you see a full molt! It will look like someone busted open a dozen feather pillows in your hen house.

My 4 month old silkie pen looks like an exploded cotton ball! they all seem to moult at about this age.

I remember that stage. I've yet to see a full-on molt. I'm actually a bit eager to get it as an artist friend of mine has asked for feathers. I plan to load her up w/ enough feathers to make her own chicken flock.

Well that makes me feel better! I'm just glad to know that (at least as of now) there's no misplaced aggression going on. Do adult chickens moult annually, or seasonally . . . in other words, when is it to be expected?
