I have 5 beautiful 8 week old pullets in my flock. I have been noticing a few stray feathers in the coop. They don’t pick on each other but I find random feathers in their bedding. Is this normal? They don’t have any bald spots and are feed a normal diet. Is it regular to find a few feathers from each chicken on the ground?

I am interested in the answer to this question as well. I have a flock of eleven 14-week olds. There are feathers all over in my coop but my birds look beautiful. No bald spots and the feathers are nice and glossy.

They start getting feathers and "molting" their down almost right away, then the 2nd juvenile molt happens somewhere between 7-14 weeks, then after that they molt once a year.

We just went through this, so I googled this last month... so your birds are normal!
