Feathers on head bald

I just noticed this morning that one of my RIR's head looks like her feathers have been eaten, only the base of the feather is left. It looks like she is going gray around the face like old dogs get but she's only 9 months old. Any thoughts on what this could be? Lice? Mites?

Molting, I'd say- what you are seeing are the new (pin) feathers coming out. I have one chicken right now that is almost completely bald.

OK, yes it looks like molting, phew! Thanks for the help, I'm still in the learning process of being a chicken owner.
