I have a guinea (I think a hen) that was setting on eggs in a nest outdoors. I think a skunk came and ate her eggs. Since that time I have noticed that she has a bare spot on her back. The feathers are gone in about a three inch circle. I don't know how to tell if this guinea has a disease? This happened about 2 wks. ago and I can't tell that feathers are growing back in yet.

Also, I notice the other guineas in my flock all peck on themselves some. Is that natural or would that mean they have lice or something? My guineas are not tame where I can hold them and doctor a sore. If I have a problem, how do I treat a bird that would be difficult to contain?

I don't know how to tell if my flock of 15 have parasites of some kind?

My birds free range, and as far as I have known before have been very healthy. I feed them some cracked corn on the ground in their pen at night, and I give them some 22% protein crumble chick starter. Since they free range on our farm they have access to all the insects.

Do they sleep in a coop? That is when you could check them. Either way they are going to peck and preen themselves and each other. The bald spot could be from mating. How many are males and how many females?
