I have had show dogs, show sheep, and show horses, but it never occurred to me that there would be show quality chickens, other than 4H kids. Now consider myself educated on that concept. I'm learning! I bought 8 chicks from our feedstore, all pullets. After spending 5 minutes on BYC, I now know that is not a sure thing. My fingers are crossed. The 2 SLW pictured are, I believe pullets and will be 8 weeks tomorrow. My question is about their feathers. They seem very black. Im wondering if, as they mature, will the feathers widen to display more white? Is that a quality issue? I can see very flat backs here, but neither had been up on this crate before and were very insecure. Having said said that, their backs are too flat.

They both look like pullets to me, their lacing could get better as they age, but since they were from a feed store it probably won't be very nice because most feed stores get their chicks from hatcheries. They should be fine for pets but not for showing.
