Feathless back is it normal

Hi everyone i have 2 3 week old maline chicks and their backs are featherless is it normal?

3 week old birds should not have a lot of feathers on their backs yet. I had a chick that got his back stuck to the egg and it ripped off all the back fuzz, chick fuzz will not regrow and he was bald until the adult feathers came in. Her back feathers should be coming in soon.

Did you raise these from one day old?
Wonders what happened to the down on their backs?
3 weeks should see some back feathers growing in.

Hope they don't have bugs...feather shaft mites.
Maybe they were just picked on and all their down plucked out.
Any wounds?

I noticed males usually loose their most of their down before growing their feathers whether as the females feathers develop before they loose their down and you really don't notice any bare spots. Sorry if it sounds complicated. I think the only other thing it could be is bugs as aart said in his last post.

Yep. Our males took six months to fully feather out. The “ugly” ones may end up being the biggest.
