I have a growing flock of 4 hens and a mature rooster. I had one rooster before this (died from predator) and I've always fed my flock an 16% layer pellet. I recently heard that layer pellet is no good for male birds but I have never seen any health issues in either of my roos. I supplement oyster shells for my girls. Would their nutritional needs be met if I switched to a flock feed?

Absolutely. All flock/flock raiser type feed has everything the layers need but calcium. If you have free choice oysters shells, you're in business. Most in here recommend 20% protein, but 16% is the minimum you'll need.
Thank you I will be switching to a flock raiser next time I go to the feed store!
