Question on feeding meat birds in general.... My son's Kindergarten class hatched chicks. We were the lucky ones to take them home. I had no clue what they were going to be. They were cute and yellow and fluffy!
They hatched on April 8th and are now almost fully feathered white FAT piggy chicks. When I asked the teacher what kind of chick if she knew, she said, pan fry I think.....
So, I have meat birds, fine. I'm raising egg layers, I know how to feed them. How the heck do I care for these pan frys? All they do is lay around, eat, drink and poop. They are HUGE! They are almost as big as my poults that hatched on Feb 28th! I know they are bred to grow fast but I don't want to overfeed them and kill them....
Any suggestions as to the proper way to feed these guys? Pull feed after dark or something?
I plan on putting them outside in the coop with the other ones, but figure they will eat ALL the food.
