I have adopted 2 buff orps who are one year old and lay eggs everyday. I also have 11 22 week pullets who are not laying yet. I am wondering if its okay for the pullets to eat the layers mash at this time so that I dont have to separate the two feeds.

I'm new at this chicken biz but I read somewhere that you shouldn't do that. Maybe the layer mash has too much calcium? I can't remember.

Oh - but I see your pullets are 22 weeks. That might make a difference since they should be laying any day now, right?

IMO, the 22 week old pullets can eat the layer feed just fine. They are more than old enough.
