You could try to find someone local, perhaps on BYC.
I started out with the standard 25+ hatchery chicks. I wish I had started smaller, because I had alot to learn in terms of what breeds there are & what I like. I also found out AFTER I started my flock that there are a couple of top breeders within an hour of my house. So, now I have way too many chickens!
