What has everyone come up with to combat wasted feed? It seems my birds throw more on the ground than they eat, way more.

They'll do that. Thats not much info to go on...what kind of feeders and are your birds on wire, ground etc...

Make yourself some PVC tube feeders...easy-peasy to do, too! I'm 70 years old single gal and I just went to the hardware store and bought the parts...voila! No more wasted feed!

Here's some examples of different setups:

They are on wire, the big round feeders that are plastic from Tsc. With the holes for them to poke their head in. I just fill them up and five minutes later they are nearly empty and it's all on the ground. I figured someone came up with a trick to stop it some.

So far I haven't had any issues with my feeders. I only use small dishes with lids and 4 circles cut out so they can eat but not dive into their food. I fill it up 3 times a day and haven't noticed any feed waste. I also scatter seeds in the sand boxes so they have something to scratch.

Those tsc feeders can be modified with something to make the feed holes smaller. I'm going to try duct tape and see if it will lower the bill out until they get big enough to use the 1 gallon container with a PVC piece added.
I use a tube feeder for my chicken and I fill it up once a week for four chickens. I used a four inch pipe with two inch reducer going to a two inch y.

It wont stop it but it'll sure help, buy you a 8"X8" aluminum (disposable) pan I pay 3/$1.00 and set the feeder inside the pan, it helps and catches a lot.
gives em something to do too.

The pans I use are about 1.5" deep

its a no trouble .33 cent fix help
