Hi, just wondering if anyone here feed there chickens small fresh fish??? and how do they give it to there fish? is it best to give it raw, cook, steam or dried???

i current;y give it to them raw and they go crazy over it, i'm just curious is it better to give it to them cooked or Raw???

Mine won't eat them. My husband loves to fish and buys minnows as bait. We offered the chickens the dead ones that died in the tank and they acted like they were poison.

I have heard it will give eggs a fishy taste, but have never fed fish so I can't say from personal experiance.

my chooks get 2 times a week the salmon in those grocery packets all washed as well as I can to get rid of salt as too much salt can do more harm than good.

Ours get any type of leftovers, maybe once every two weeks or so, raw/cooked/canned...and no funny fishy taste to the eggs so far.

I gave mine a can of pink salmon one day. They inhaled it and wanted more. I sold the eggs so I don't know if they tasted any different.

As far as the eggs taking on a fishy taste, I think if you feed them fish 3 or more times a week, every week, then you could effect taste. The occasional fish isnt going to change the flavor.

I fed my flock some fried saltwater trout the other day and they went insane for it!!!
