I recently bought a huge 15kg bag of starter crumbs for my soon to hatch 5 ducklings. I realise this is far too much food since they only need it for the first 4 weeks. I am aware that after this age they require more nutrients which is why they switch to grower feed and then adult feed. Is there any way I can continue feeding them starter crumbs instead, while adding supplements for whichever nutrients are missing? (eg vegetables, mealworm etc for a varied diet) I just don’t want to waste all this food.

As long as it has enough niacin, it shouldn’t be too big of an issue. I’ve never had issues finishing a bag of feed so it doesn’t go to waste with my ducklings. If it’s not specific to ducks, you can add brewers yeast!

Thanks, wont I need to reduce the protein content as they get older?

Well after you finish the back you’ll do grower/finisher then can do laying pellets after. But I’ve always finished my 50 pound bags. I just add brewers yeast. (Duck food is hard to find where I’m at too) and I’ve never had any issues. Growth or nothing. My ducks are pets and they get checkups by my vet and they are perfectly healthy! That’s just my personal experience 💕
