Hi everyone,
I'm having problems with feeding my flock. I usually mix laying feed with scratch and let them feed on that, but I heard that scratch is only for a snack what should I feed my chickens?

Use the scratch as a way for the chicks to turn the bedding. Layer feed by itself is fine. I mix a little corn with my layer pellets because it is a little cheaper. But be careful. An overweight hen is not a productive layer.

Some buy the extra high protein flock raiser? feed (20%) and then give scratch on the side. Layer feed is usually 16% protein.

I haven't personally done this.

I give the 20% with the cold weather.

No wonder my chicken is fat!!!

I should just feed them 20% original feed.

You probably could even feed them 16 or 18%. I just chose the 20% for the cold weather we are having.
