Hatching, & pipping !!! First time ever on shipped eggs
Well ok so the hatcher is technically not out of the egg shell yet, fully zipped & popped the top,
now altn bet napping & singing to the other eggs...and the winner is...a Spec Sussex from PappaBrooder.
1st ever hatched shipped egg & first ever SpSx for me, and these eggs aren't actually "due" til sat
(I run a little hot, it has given me _way_ better hatches, like 100% vs 0% and the 12-24 hr early chicks have been way more robust w/ less toe issues overall,
I know this isn't how it works for most ppl, not sure why it works here, just found by accident that it does , <shrug>)
So, 2 pipped on the SFH from PappaBrooder also.
Not so much on the SFH from KYTinpusher only one went to LD, package was beyond excellent,
I blame the sorting station in OH, eggs I got shipped via there also last spring were perfect on the outside all sloshy on the inside, 50% never started, 0% hatched from them,
now it appear this batch may sadly be the same, & it is crazy they went via that sorting station as it took them hundreds of miles (& an extra day) in the wrong direction from KYTinpusher to me, very irksome as I dearly wanted those eggs to hatch (don't we always of course). Well maybe that 1 SHF in LD will make it, hoping...
Meanwhile, the Calf eggs re being a pleasant surpize, woohoo!
annnd , the Speckled Sussex has exited the shell, my goodness what huge feet & think legs on such a tiny chick -- is that typical w/ this breed?? &/or does it scream roo?...
