Hi,

We will be adding some geese to our holding this year and I wondered what people recommended as the best style of feeder and drinker - not their contents, but the actual container.

I currently use normal chicken feeder / drinkers suspended off the ground for our chicken breeds, although I am experimenting with the PVC tube feeder and an automatic water. It just occurred to me that geese probably couldn't use regular chicken feeder/drinkers due to their bill size.

Any recommendations on what has worked well, or badly for your geese?

Thanks.

well I guess it depends on how many you have.

I just use 2 to 5 gal buckets for adults, and they get water from their baby pool. They like to put their entire face in their water containers and swish around. You could use a plastic storage bin, or a shallow tray that is used for mixing concrete. Anything can work. an old bathtub anything that holds water they will love.

Buckets changed 2 x a day as they get filthy fast and the pool every other day.

for food, I just use a shallow pan.

I do the same.

Chicken drinkers don't work with waterfowl. As Gallusfarm says, they need to be able to put their entire head in the water in order to rinse their bill and their eyes.

Buckets are great for adults. For goslings, I use a mixing bowl like this one:
