Feeder fish and ducks Q

If I get a bunch of feeder minnows/goldfish and put them in their 4ft deep pond, will the ducks dive and go after them or wait until they are closer to the surface? I've seen a few ducks face down, butts in the air and feet flailing, not going any deeper what so ever, lol.
