I only have 2 hens right now. Maybe I'll get more in the future but right now, 2. I have a big grandpa feeder. Thought it was a cool idea, don't have to worry much about the girls except changing water. But I noticed that this feeder holds alot of food, like I don't have to fill it until 2 months. Now doesn't that make the food stale? I was thinking maybe just giving them a smaller feeder or a bowl like I do my ducks. My husband says just throw the food around. What do you use if you have small flock?

I would try to fill it so it is all used up in about a month.

But, what is much more problematic than the age of the feed, is if it gets damp, or gets super hot.

Feed kept at room temp or colder, and completely dry, is perfectly fine a month old. 2 months probably isn't too bad either, just not as ideal.
