Feedin Chickens kitchen scraps

There's something I need to add to that Treats Chart. I found out our girls LOVE smoked bluefish. But, only feed it to them in the morning, because if you feed it to them before bedtime, when you open the coop door the next morning, the smell will knock you down.

(DH smoked a bunch of fresh caught bluefish, but left it to sit too long before he thought of making pate out of it. Good thing the girls like it, because DH felt he had wasted the bounty of the ocean...)

We caught 7 more bluefish this past weekend, and DH promises to not let the girls have any more.

Ours love broccoli but will only eat the little buds on top unless I cook it. Something to remember, chickens are omnivores and need and love meat and other protein sources (cheese, etc). They'll eat chicken even, but eww. So do not throw away those meat scraps, tuna casseroles, chunks of tough roast; the chickens love them!

I feed my chickens all leftovers I mean everything that sits more that 2-3 day as leftovers , from garden scraps vegetables , - fruits to nuts to spag/w meat sauce , to cook hamburges , beef, hotdogs , chicken ......yes leftover chicken ,fish, clamboils , all type of seafood , soups , old ceral, cookies , chips , bread , you name it-It's left overs - I'll feed it to them as a treat , not everyday but a few times a week as a treat , I'll even place fresh cut grass clipping into the outside runs for them to eat .

who need a pig for leftovers -chicken are smaller and eat everything
