I may have made a little mistake….
My chicks are 15 weeks old and I began transitioning them to layer feed a couple weeks ago. I didn’t know the danger of excess calcium until reading some threads about it on here. Should I go back to chick feed for 3 more weeks? I don’t want damage to their kidneys. Is it irreversible? Thanks

Its no where as bad as you make it sound. No need to worry. Do you have any males in the flock?

Its your choice, really. If you have no males, layer feed is okay. Its not poison.

If you have a male or want an easier option, you could stick with grower or an All-flock type feed. If you do this, you NEED to provide calcium in the form of OS in a SEPARATE dish where it cannot get wet. Most males and females will go eat it when their body needs it. Some people have issues with birds not eating OS, but I never have.
