My 4 little chickens are 5 days old and have only had chick starter. Are they old enough for a little boiled egg and do I have to give them grit if they eat the egg? Here is a picture of my Easter Egger.....love her little face :)

I have read that you can start giving treats but I think I read 2-3 weeks. ?? I don't think there is any hard or fast rules. If you provide egg or anything other than the crumbles, grit will need to added to the diet. Sand, dirt, etc can also be forms of grit so if they don't have access to these materials, sprinkle some grit on the eggs and serve.

I gave my chicks grapes, cut up small. And sprinkles grit for birds, (parakets) on it. They loved them. Plus if I ever needed them to go back in the coop once they got bigger, it was so easy when I tossed in a few grapes. My peeps were just fine.
