Feeding Chickins

Wow.. got have received some great advice. I have seen so many people loading up their carts with scratch at feed stores. I have asked some of them why they are buying so much. They say.. It's chicken feed. I chuckle and tell them it's not chicken feed, that it is a supplement. Most tell me because the convention grains cost 4 to 5 dollars more. But the conventional grains have the high protein and calcium chickens need to thrive I tell them. I get thru to some of them. Others say they have been feeding for yrs this way.. so I just let them go and give up.
Scratch is high in carbohydrates. Too many carbs is not good for anyone-anything.
My advice is find a quality conventional grain at a reasonable price, and stick with it. Don't deviate brands when a coupon comes in the mail.
Good luck and my best regards.
