How long should I keep these x's on starter chick food?? They are 4 weeks old and I am wondering if they can switch to grower finisher any time soon???

Most people I talk to just keep them on the starter for the whole duration. Those that do switch to a finisher do it two weeks before harvest. So if you're planning to harvest at 8 weeks, switch to finisher at week 6. I've noticed that there's a lot less fat on the birds if I stay with starter the whole way though. It's a culinary preference though.

For the first 2 weeks we use starter and then at week 3 change to grower. We also mix chops with the grower and have had really good luck with it. Their weights at 8 weeks dressed out range from 6 pounds to 9 pounds. McMurray hatchery has the best broilers. I have tried Cackle (were fine) and Hoovers hatchery. Good luck!
