We just purchased some hens that had been debeaked (and were living in a ridiculously small confined area) by their previous owners. They are beautiful birds, and are slowly getting used to their new (and much larger) pastured area on our farm. However, they seem to be struggling with eating the layer pellets and crumbles that I feed my other laying hens. It is difficult for them to even pick it up. Is there a certain type of feed or mix that debeaked birds need? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I'm headed to the feed store, and will pick up a deep food dish for them, as well as some meds to put in their water. We just got them last Saturday, and they were very stressed out (way too many roosters in their confined space) so a little TLC from our chicken loving children (plus some meds in the water) should do the trick. Thanks!
