Feeding eggs to chickens

We became chicken owners so a small farm down the road didn’t have to cull their hens when egg production slowed. Thing is, we don’t eat their eggs. I have an egg intolerance, and my husband… he just won’t eat them.

When we were getting a decent amount of eggs, I was giving them to friends and colleagues. We’re only getting one a day now, and I’m wondering if I can just feed them right back to the chickens!
They love them ~ but is it unhealthy? Should I treat eggs like treats and limit how much they get? We’re down to 3 hens ~ is one egg a day for all 3 too much?
Everything online says to cook eggs before feeding so they don’t develop an egg eating habit, but since I don’t care about that ~ is it safe to feed them raw?
Alternative is to toss into the woods for other critters.
Thanks for any advice!

We feed raw eggs to our hens without issue..I do care if they become egg eaters so I just throw it on the compost pile hard enough to smash it to smithereens so it doesn’t look anything like a normal/whole egg. So far, no egg eaters and no issues. We have about 30 hens and they only get the cracked ones, so maybe 1-2 per day, if that, for reference as to how many eggs we feed back.

Eggs are good for chickens. Don’t make it their main diet, but I would say like one every twoish days is fine. It’s kinda like how mothers eat the placenta after giving birth. 😆

Agree no issue with feeding eggs, and smashing them first is a good move (I have a tree in my run, so I just toss it at the base of the tree). If you're concerned about feeding raw eggs, you could always hard boil them first.

You could try selling them to friends and neighbors too. Usually I don't have enough to sell but when I do they're gone fast.
Yeah, takes almost 2 weeks to fill a carton, and one hen must be nearing eggopause bc her eggs are tiny little things now. So can’t sell.

Plus, all my neighbors and most of my friends have chickens ~ no one needs eggs! :)

I feel better about giving them to the girls, and every now and then I’ll throw some in the woods for the possum and skunk too.

Thanks all!! :love

I would much rather feed them raw ~ and they love them! I just wanted to be sure it was safe. Thanks! ☺️
