Regarding some earlier posts in BYC, I see many people are feeding their chicks oatmeat when their birds get "PB" but will feeding oatmeal to week old chicks prevent this from happening in the first place? I am a newcomer to BYC and thought I would ask as well as introduce myself. Thanks to all who have given so much knowledge on this site.

I don't know if it would prevent pasty butt, but it's OK as a treat, and won't hurt. Be sure to give chick grit if you are adding treats to their diets.
Do you think your chicks have PB?

They do not at this time. I have checked them multiple times a day but have read so much about it. It seems to be the common and most offered suggestion to stop or prevent PB so I thought I would ask all of the experts here at BYC. Thanks for your input! I will pick up some long cooking oatmeal, not instant I assume, and maybe crush it a little and add it for a treat, and yes I have given them grit from day-1.
Also, thanks for the welcome and so glad to become a regular visitor here now.
